Hey Checkyourlogs Fans,
A quick post for you here tonight. I have been having some issues with some of my Replica jobs failing over the past few weeks with the following error message.
Failed to process task Error: The RPC server is unavailable.
RPC Function call failed. Function Name [InvokerTestConnection]
As it turns out, my WAN Accelerator Service at the source site has been not starting on reboot.
This is required, and when it isn’t started you see the above error.
The good news is that the fix is really simple. Just start the service and retry the job.
Once I started it à You can see the screenshot below with the replicas starting to process again.
This error isn’t that obvious but now is one of the first things we check if we see the RPC Failures with the Wan Accelerator setup.

I was facing the exact same issue recently, however my WAN Accelerator service was running. I stopped and restarted and the error continued. Then for no reason at all everything started working. Veeam support had no answers, and I’m still scratching my head wondering what caused it. I ended up creating a new Backup Copy (to CC) job so maybe it was something in the job… not sure but up and running 🙂
