Peter De Tender (Azure Architect & Trainer at Azure Platform Experts)

Peter has 20 years of professional expertise in the Microsoft Infrastructure segment, with a main focus on Microsoft Cloud technologies (Azure, Enterprise Mobility Suite, Office 365,…) nowadays. Based out of Belgium but traveling across all continents for his passion, he is known as a subject matter expert, always able to provide training in a fun and enthusiastic way. Peter is a longstanding MCT, and Azure MVP for 2 years (before on WIndows IT Pro). Peter is a frequent speaker at international conferences, book author and Azure courseware creator.

Session – Architecting Enterprise-Ready Networking in Azure

Description: In this session, learn from Peter De Tender, freelance Microsoft Cloud Platform Architect / Trainer / Azure MVP (2013-2015) and passionate speaker, what different building blocks Azure offers you for architecting an enterprise-ready networking topology. Starting from the basic Azure VNet concepts, Peter will quickly move over to more complex designs of isolated subnets, how network communication between multiple Azure regions works, what are Network Security Groups, explaining the different built-in load balancing solutions available today and how a hybrid integration with your on-premises datacenter could be set up. Ending the session with some best practices when integrating Azure PaaS solutions into the network stack.

And as usual in Peter’s sessions, all this spiced up with experiences from the field, passion and lots of demos.

Learning objective: understanding the core feature set of Azure networking solutions and services, seeing them in action and getting inspired to deploy your Azure networking in a more advanced way.

Thomas Rayner (Microsoft MVP)

Thomas Rayner is a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) and Honorary Scripting Guy with many years of experience in IT. He is a master technologist, specializing in DevOps, systems and process automation, public, private and hybrid cloud, and PowerShell. Thomas is an international speaker, best-selling author, and instructor covering a vast array of IT topics.

Thomas works for PCL Constructors on their DevOps and Automation team. He enjoys working with a wide variety of different products and technologies, particularly emerging and disruptive technologies, and automation-related products. His position with PCL affords him the luxury of facing interesting challenges every day.

Session – The Gift of Community

Microsoft MVPs have hugely diverse backgrounds, expertise, and strengths, but one thing every MVP shares is a passion for COMMUNITY. Giving back to the technical community is how MVPs get awarded, but getting awarded is not why MVPs do what they do. Join us in this session to learn about participating in technical communities, and you’ll find the motivation to get going too!

Our third session will be delivered by former Microsoft MVP Kent Weare who is now a full time Microsoft Blue Badge.

Kent has been employed in the Energy sector in Calgary, Alberta, Canada for the past 11 years. He is very passionate about Architecture and Cloud computing, especially if it involves integrating different systems. Outside his core work responsibilities, you will see him actively participating in technology communities. He recently co-authored three BizTalk books and may be found speaking at Technology events in Canada, the United States and in Europe. He has been recognized for these efforts by Microsoft as a Most Valuable Professional (MVP) for the past 10 consecutive years.

During his free time, Dileepa also blogs & contributes to the Microsoft Office 365 Community Forum as an Industry Expert to help troubleshoot issues and speaks at various user group meetups, international and local conferences to share his knowledge in the fields of Microsoft Cloud Technologies.

Deploying Exchange Server on IaaS – Do’s, Don’ts, and Best Practices

Due to the significant cost savings available in moving workloads to cloud, many customers are interested in deploying production Exchange Server workloads to “the cloud” using an Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) provider. In this session, we will talk about supportability concerns, best practices, deployment issues, and trade-offs for this scenario and discuss scenarios where a such a deployment makes sense and how to compare such a deployment with the services provided by Office 365 or an on-premises deployment.
