Introduction

Enterprise State Roaming is a feature introduced in Windows 10 (1511) that allows modern applications and Windows settings to follow a user from device to device. It supports a work-anywhere theme by providing a consistent user experience across different devices as part of the Windows experience. Key benefits include enhanced privacy of user settings through encryption, reduced setup time for new devices, and improved productivity by maintaining user settings across devices. This feature ensures that users’ look and feel are available on any Windows 10 or later device signed in with an Azure AD account.
While configuring this feature isn’t that new, Azure AD is now Entra ID and I thought sharing some updated steps might help some new administrators. Remember to have the following before enabling the feature.
  • Licenses
    • Entra ID P1 or P2
    • EMS bundle.
  • Windows 10 1511 or better devices.
    • Hybrid or Entra ID joined
  • Rights
    • Global Administrator
